CFP: CIEC Engineering Technology Division (ETD) 2012

Agustus 4, 2011/in Warta Utama UAD/by webmaster

The ETD is seeking papers for inclusion in the 2012 CIEC conference in Orlando, FL.  The conference theme is, “Expanding the Workforce Pipeline: Beyond K-12”.

Philosophy: ASEE has recently highlighted K-12 (“Pipeline”) initiatives as well as the challenges in the current workforce.  These initiatives, along with the 2011 Conference theme, Transforming the Education of Future Generations in Engineering and Engineering Technology, lead to a continuation of the dialogue on ‘future generations’ and ‘transformation of education’.   The 2012 theme provides the opportunity and encourages  discussion on theory and applications with regard to the working professional as many in the workforce now are some of the first ‘products’ of the K-12 initiatives.

You are invited to submit papers on the listed topics listed below. Sessions, based on the profession’s key issues and strategic plan, are being configured to address one or more of the following topics:

1.            “Creativity and Innovation in Engineering Technology” – Walt Buchanan

2.             Labs for electronic learning

3.             Creating and Fostering Partnerships with Industry and Government

4.             Linking faculty scholarship to undergraduate research

5.             Is Engineering Technology a discipline or a way to teach engineering?

6.             Classroom techniques for improving the profession

7.             Curriculum innovation driven by Industry Input

8.             How to teach Innovation

9.             Internationalizing ET Education

10.           Faculty Scholarship, Research and the Advancement of ET

11.           CCSSIEE – Next steps for engineering education

12.           What is the future of graduate education?

14.           Curriculum 2020

In considering topics for this call, members of the engineering and technology communities are encouraged to consider, but not limit themselves to, the conference theme as well as the three primary goals of the ETD’s strategic plan:

Goal # 1:      Strengthen ETD as the organization that supports engineering technology faculty.

Goal # 2:      Promote the quality of engineering technology education with a focus on programs, faculty, and students.

Goal # 3:      Promote scholarship opportunities for faculty.

If you have an idea for a paper or presentation that relates to the conference theme and the collaboration of industry, government, and education to accomplish these tasks, please submit your proposal to the Program Chair listed below.  Deadline is September 11, 2011.

All papers will be refereed, and those accepted will be published in the Conference Proceedings CD** and presented by the author at the conference.  In addition to full length reviewed papers, the Engineering Technology Division will also accept Abstracts for presentation only** and Works in Progress**.

Paper Requirements: Submit your manuscript or abstract for blind review in MS Word format (not pdf). See the Author’s Kit for paper or abstract submission for further details. Submit all papers via EMAIL to the ETD Program Chair, Ken Burbank, at kburbank@purdue.edu (with “CIEC-ETD Paper” in the Subject line) by September 11, 2011.  More information for authors is located at http://www.tech.purdue.edu/ciec/

* The annual Conference for Industry and Education Collaboration ( CIEC) brings together industry, continuing education, cooperative education, and engineering technology leaders. The conference is organized and sponsored by the Cooperative and Experiential Education Division ( CEED), College Industry Partnership Division ( CIP), Continuing Professional Development Division  ( CPD), and the Engineering Technology Division ( ETD) of the American Society for Engineering Education ( ASEE).

** Paid conference registration is required for inclusion in proceedings and/or conference presentation.
